04.06.2024: After six hours of vote counting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, celebrations have begun among Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers as Mamata Banerjee’s party takes the lead. Follow all the latest updates as we bring you live coverage from West Bengal.

West Bengal Lok Sabha Election Results Live:

With over 30 seats now in TMC’s favor, Mamata Banerjee held a press conference in Kalighat. “These results have shown that Modi has lost all credibility and he should immediately resign,” she declared.

So far, five TMC candidates—Mahua Moitra, Shatrughan Sinha, Kirti Azad, Rachana Banerjee, and Kalyan Banerjee—have been declared winners from Krishnanagar, Asansol, Bardhaman-Durgapur, Hooghly, and Sreerampur respectively. Additionally, one Congress candidate has secured a victory. TMC is leading with 30 seats, while BJP trails behind, according to Election Commission trends.

Latest Election Commission Trends:

  • TMC: Leading with 29 seats
  • BJP: Holding 12 seats
  • Congress: 1 seat

Ex-cricketer Yusuf Pathan, initially trailing, has now taken the lead. Congress’ Adhir Chowdhury is trailing by approximately 34,000 votes. TMC national general secretary and Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, is leading from Diamond Harbour by a margin of over 6.9 lakh votes. Mahua Moitra, previously trailing in Krishnanagar, has now been declared a winner along with Asansol candidate Shatrughan Sinha and Bardhaman-Durgapur candidate Kirti Azad.

West Bengal’s polling took place in seven phases, with the final phase on June 1. This schedule caused Mamata Banerjee to skip the INDIA bloc meeting held on June 1, attended by senior leaders from Congress, Samajwadi Party, CPI-M, CPI, DMK, JMM, AAP, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (Sharad Pawar). TMC and PDP did not attend the meeting.
