“Truth Will Prevail”: BS Yediyurappa’s Son on Sex Assault Case Against Father

High Court Restrains Arrest of Veteran BJP Leader in POCSO Case

Bengaluru:

State BJP President B Y Vijayendra expressed confidence that justice will be served following the Karnataka High Court’s decision to restrain the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from arresting his father, former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, in a POCSO case. Vijayendra emphasized his belief that “truth will prevail in the temple of justice.”

High Court Decision

Earlier in the day, the Karnataka High Court intervened, preventing the CID from arresting Yediyurappa, who is facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court also directed Yediyurappa to appear before the CID for investigation on June 17.

Vijayendra’s Response

In a post on social media platform X, Vijayendra expressed gratitude for the support and prayers from the people of Karnataka. He stated, “The blessings of the people of Karnataka and their prayers have paid off in the temple of justice. Political conspiracies have always followed Yediyurappa, but he will gain victory over these conspiracies by following the path of justice.”

He further noted that the high court’s decision to grant interim bail demonstrates Yediyurappa’s respect for the law. “Yediyurappa is not one to turn his back on investigations,” Vijayendra added, reiterating their firm belief that the truth will ultimately prevail.

Background of the Case

On Thursday, a Bengaluru court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Yediyurappa in the POCSO case, which was registered on March 14 this year. The Special Investigation Team of the CID sought the warrant after Yediyurappa failed to appear for questioning as scheduled on Wednesday. He had requested additional time to join the probe.

Allegations and Legal Proceedings

According to the police, Yediyurappa has been charged under the POCSO Act and Section 354 A (Sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The charges stem from a complaint filed by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, who alleged that Yediyurappa molested her daughter during a meeting on February 2 at his residence in Dollars Colony, Bengaluru.

Yediyurappa has denied the allegations, maintaining his innocence and stating his intention to fight the case legally. He has filed two petitions in the high court seeking anticipatory bail and the quashing of the FIR.

The case continues to unfold, with Yediyurappa scheduled to appear before the CID for further investigation. As the legal proceedings advance, Yediyurappa’s supporters remain hopeful that justice will be served, and the truth will emerge.
