05.05.2024: Ecuadorian beauty queen Landy Párraga Goyburo faced a horrific fate as she was shot and killed while dining at a restaurant in Quevedo, possibly due to a social media post that disclosed her location.
The police investigation indicates that the shooting occurred shortly after Parraga shared a photo of her meal, octopus ceviche, on Instagram, inadvertently revealing her whereabouts to potential assailants. This revelation led two armed men to enter the restaurant and fatally shoot her.
Reports suggest that Parraga’s name was linked to a corruption inquiry involving judicial officials and organized crime, raising speculations about the motives behind her tragic death. There are theories that the attack was orchestrated by the widow of a drug lord, with whom Parrage allegedly had an affair.
Surveillance footage captured the harrowing moment when gunmen stormed into the restaurant, firing at Goyburo and another individual. Despite attempts to seek refuge, both victims were mercilessly shot before the assailants fled.
Goyburo, aged 23, was a prominent figure with over a million followers on social media, known for her entrepreneurial ventures including a goods importing business and a sportswear line.
