28.04.2024: In a significant move marking the initiation of the third phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched its campaign with a compelling roadshow led by Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi’s incumbent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently in custody. The roadshow, held in Delhi’s East Delhi constituency, drew massive crowds as Sunita Kejriwal fervently greeted the enthusiastic audience while standing atop a vehicle. AAP’s candidate for East Delhi, Kuldeep Kumar, joined the event, showcasing a portrait of Rani Laxmibai.

AAP is strategically leveraging Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi excise policy case, aiming to convey an emotional message to voters through Sunita Kejriwal’s active participation in the campaign. The party’s senior leaders also lent their support to the roadshow, with a deliberate emphasis on highlighting Sunita Kejriwal’s role.

Delhi’s Minister Atishi remarked, “BJP put Arvind Kejriwal in jail thinking that they could stop him from campaigning, but now lakhs of Arvind Kejriwal have hit the streets for campaigning. This is the love of people of Delhi…so many people have gathered to give their blessings to Arvind Kejriwal and Sunita Kejriwal…”

Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai echoed similar sentiments, stating, “People of Delhi are angry with the arrest of CM Arvind Kejriwal…from today, through the roadshow of Sunita Kejriwal, we’re starting the campaign for the 3rd phase of elections…BJP is scared of AAP’s campaigning.”

Sunita Kejriwal’s active involvement in the election campaign is part of a broader opposition movement, as highlighted by her participation alongside Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, in rallies organized by the Opposition INDIA bloc. These rallies have targeted the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre, particularly condemning the arrest of opposition leaders ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Delhi residents will cast their votes in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on May 25, with all seven seats of the national capital witnessing high-profile contests. Notably, BJP’s Manoj Tiwari and former JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar are among the key candidates vying for seats in this crucial phase of the elections.
