21.05.2024: On the 33rd death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, his son and Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, paid a heartfelt tribute. Rahul shared a touching childhood photograph featuring himself with his father, Rajiv Gandhi, who is seen with a hand placed lovingly on young Rahul’s shoulder.
In his emotional post, Rahul wrote, “Father, Your dreams, my dreams, Your aspirations, my responsibilities. Your memories, today and always, always in my heart.”
Homage at Veer Bhumi
Early Tuesday morning, Rahul Gandhi, along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, paid homage to Rajiv Gandhi at Veer Bhumi in Delhi. Other prominent Congress leaders, including P Chidambaram and Sachin Pilot, also joined in paying their respects.

Rajiv Gandhi’s Legacy
Rajiv Gandhi assumed the leadership of the Congress party in 1984, following the assassination of his mother, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. At the age of 40, he became India’s youngest Prime Minister, taking office in October 1984. Rajiv Gandhi served as Prime Minister until December 2, 1989. Born on August 20, 1944, he was tragically assassinated by a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber during an election rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, on May 21, 1991.
