Pune Woman Rescued After Falling Into 100-Foot Gorge While Taking Selfie
Satara, Maharashtra – A 29-year-old woman from Pune was dramatically rescued after she fell into a 100-foot gorge while taking a selfie in Maharashtra’s Satara district. The incident, which occurred amid heavy rain, has gone viral on social media.
The Incident
Nasreen Qureshi was visiting Borne Ghat in Satara with her friends when she slipped and fell into the gorge on Saturday evening (August 3). Despite a ban on tourist visits in the area due to hazardous conditions, the group ventured into the restricted zone.
The Rescue
In a viral video, local residents are seen throwing a thick rope down the gorge. A brave man descended into the gorge to rescue Qureshi, who suffered injuries from the fall. The Home Guard and local residents played crucial roles in her rescue.
Medical Attention
After being pulled to safety, Qureshi was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police confirmed that she is recovering from her injuries.
Previous Incidents
This rescue comes just days after a tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. Anvi Kamdar, a 27-year-old chartered accountant from Mumbai, fell into a 300-foot gorge while making a video near the Kumbhe waterfall at Mangaon. Despite rescue efforts, Kamdar succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.
