21.04.2024 : Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s recent remarks in Pathanamthitta, Kerala, have ignited a political storm, as she didn’t hold back in labeling Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as “compromised.” Drawing a vivid football analogy, she emphasized the futility of having a compromised player on the field and equated it to the challenges posed by a compromised CM.

During a poll rally for Congress candidate Anto Antony, Priyanka Gandhi pointedly criticized Vijayan for seemingly selective attacks. She highlighted that Vijayan’s focus remains fixed on targeting the Congress and her brother Rahul Gandhi while sparing the BJP from his criticisms. She raised questions about Vijayan’s involvement in various alleged scams, including the ‘Life Mission’ and gold smuggling cases, and expressed astonishment at the absence of any significant actions or investigations by the BJP-led Central government against him.

The rally took place amidst heightened political tensions, with Vijayan himself earlier targeting Priyanka Gandhi over the DLF-Robert Vadra connection. Vijayan’s allegations centered around land dealings between DLF and Vadra, coupled with claims of substantial electoral bond transactions post-CBI raids. Priyanka Gandhi, however, retaliated by accusing the BJP of conveniently dropping the case post-payment through electoral bonds, hinting at political maneuvers.

Beyond this exchange, Priyanka Gandhi also directed criticism at the CPI(M)-led Left government in Kerala, blaming it for a significant migration of people from the state due to a lack of job opportunities. She accused the government of nepotism, alleging that jobs were primarily being allocated to party loyalists while neglecting the broader populace.

The Pathanamthitta rally underscores the intense political climate in Kerala, where rhetoric and accusations are being exchanged vigorously as parties vie for electoral support. Priyanka Gandhi’s football analogy, with its straightforward message about compromised leadership, adds another layer of intrigue to the ongoing political narrative in the state.
