09.06.2024: New Delhi  Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony is set for 7:15 pm on Sunday, June 9. Modi is poised to become the first person since former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru t:o be elected for a third consecutive term. Alongside him, members of his new council of ministers will also take their oaths.

Key Details:

  • Time and Venue: The ceremony, administered by President Draupadi Murmu, will begin at 7:15 p.m. at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • Security: With a high number of dignitaries expected, security around Rashtrapati Bhavan and across the national capital has been significantly increased. A three-tier security system will be in place until June 11, and the Delhi-NCT area has been declared a no-fly zone to prevent the use of drones.

Expected Cabinet Members:

Some prominent leaders likely to be included in the Modi 3.0 cabinet are:

  • BJP Leaders: Nirmala Sitharaman, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and ML Khattar.
  • Allies: JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, RPI chief Ramdas Athawale, and Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary.

Council of Ministers:

  • Total Expected: Only thirty ministers will take the oath today, though the council of ministers is expected to have between 78 and 81 leaders.
  • NDA Allies: With the BJP falling short of a majority on its own, more leaders from allies like Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United are expected to join the council compared to previous terms.
