21.04.2024 : Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray recently stirred controversy by alleging that during Devendra Fadnavis’ tenure as Maharashtra Chief Minister in 2019, Fadnavis had pledged to groom Thackeray’s son, Aaditya Thackeray, as the state’s next CM as part of a power-sharing agreement. Thackeray made these claims while addressing a rally in Dharavi, recounting a purported conversation with Fadnavis.
According to Thackeray, Fadnavis had also mentioned his intention to transition to a role at the Centre within the next two to three years. This revelation sheds light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics between the two parties during that period.
Thackeray further narrated that during discussions at Matoshree, Amit Shah, then BJP chief and now Union Home Minister, sought an alliance with Shiv Sena (undivided), assuring a rotational chief ministerial term of 2.5 years between BJP and Sena-undivided.
In response to Thackeray’s claims, Fadnavis vehemently denied the allegations, accusing Thackeray of being delusional and fabricating stories. Fadnavis dismissed Thackeray’s assertions as falsehoods aimed at diverting attention from other issues.
While Fadnavis acknowledged suggesting Aaditya’s grooming within the party, he clarified that he had no intentions of making Aaditya a minister, let alone a chief minister, emphasizing that such decisions are not within his purview.
This public spat has reignited tensions between the two political factions and adds a layer of intrigue to Maharashtra’s political landscape.
