Kannada Actress Pavithra Gowda Arrested in Renuka Swamy Murder Case
12.06.2024: Kannada actress Pavithra Gowda has been arrested by Bengaluru police in connection to the high-profile Renuka Swamy murder case. This development comes just hours after Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was detained in Mysore in relation to the same case.
The Renuka Swamy Murder Case: An Overview
Renuka Swamy was found dead near Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. He was an employee at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. According to police officials, Renuka Swamy had been sending inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, who is a close friend of Darshan. Enraged by this, the accused allegedly murdered Renuka Swamy and disposed of his body in a canal at Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru, reportedly in front of Darshan.
Key Details of the Case
Eight suspects have implicated Darshan Thoogudeepa, claiming he was present during the assault on Renuka Swamy. The attackers reportedly used a wooden log to fatally injure Renuka. The initial plan was to dispose of the body in the Vrushabhavati Valley, but it was discovered stuck and being tampered with by dogs. Initially, a case of an unidentified body was filed on June 8.
Earlier today, Darshan was apprehended at his farmhouse in Mysore and is being transported to the Kamakshipalya police station in Bengaluru for further investigation. Renuka Swamy’s family is also on their way to the police station.
Darshan Thoogudeepa’s Connection to Pavithra Gowda
Darshan Thoogudeepa, a prominent Kannada actor, is married to Vijayalakshmi. The couple married in 2003 and have a son named Vineesh. However, earlier this year, Pavithra Gowda shocked everyone by sharing a video on social media, hinting at her relationship with Darshan. She captioned the video, “One decade down; forever to go.♥️♥️ #10year It’s been 10 years of our relationship. Thank you ✨✨.”
According to reports by the Economic Times, Pavithra claimed that even Darshan’s wife Vijayalakshmi was aware of their relationship. “Vijayalakshmi knows about my relationship with Darshan and she has told me several times that it is okay. Now, people are abusing me and my teenage daughter, which is causing me mental pain,” Pavithra stated.
