Amid prolonged negotiations for a truce and hostage release, concerns over potential Iranian aggression against Israel led the United States to deploy additional reinforcements to the Middle East as a preventive measure. President Joe Biden cautioned Iran against targeting Israel in the near future, emphasizing that any retaliatory action for the April 1 strike on its Damascus consulate should not involve attacks on the U.S. ally.
In Hamas-governed Gaza, authorities reported numerous fresh air strikes concentrated in the central region, where a significant number of Israeli troops have recently regathered.
According to Israel’s military, its aircraft targeted over 60 militant sites in Gaza within the preceding day.
