09.04.2024: In a recent development, the Delhi High Court has rejected Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged liquor policy scam. The court also questioned Kejriwal’s role as the AAP chief, noting his alleged involvement in collecting kickbacks.
The court, led by Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma, highlighted that the evidence gathered by the Enforcement Directorate points towards Kejriwal’s collaboration with others in the liquor policy scam, both in his official capacity and as the convenor of AAP.
Meanwhile, amidst these legal battles, Delhi Minister Atishi made headlines by suggesting that Kejriwal could secure immediate release from jail by joining the BJP, drawing comparisons to Himanta Biswa Sarma’s swift exit from legal entanglements. Atishi, currently on a campaign tour in Assam, emphasized Kejriwal’s resilience and commitment to public service, regardless of his legal challenges.
These developments underscore the intense political and legal landscape surrounding Kejriwal, reflecting both accusations and support from various quarters.
