10.06.2024: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan has taken oath as a Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. Expressing gratitude, Paswan thanked PM Modi for entrusting him with this significant role.

Commitment to Responsibility

LJP (Ram Vilas) Chief Chirag Paswan, after his swearing-in ceremony, emphasized his dedication to his new role. “This is a huge responsibility for me… I will ensure that I fulfil this responsibility with full honesty and hard work,” Paswan stated. He credited Prime Minister Modi for having faith in his party, which holds a single MP but managed to secure five seats.

Focus on Welfare

Paswan highlighted the government’s focus over the past decade on schemes aimed at the welfare of the poor. “We will move ahead with that thinking to reduce the difference between the rich and the poor, and villages and towns,” he added.

Election Victory

Chirag Paswan achieved a significant victory in Bihar’s Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, winning by over 1.70 lakh votes against RJD’s Shiv Chandra Ram.

Representation in the Cabinet

Prime Minister Modi’s cabinet has seven MPs from Bihar, including four from allied parties, reflecting the BJP’s strategy to balance caste equations ahead of next year’s assembly elections. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have received substantial representation, with Uttar Pradesh securing nine ministerial berths and Bihar obtaining eight, including four cabinet positions. This distribution highlights the importance of these states in the current political landscape.
