16.04.2024 : In a recent encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, security personnel successfully thwarted Naxalite activity, resulting in the elimination of 18 Naxalites. However, three security personnel sustained injuries during the intense gun battle. Here are the key details of the operation:
- **Encounter Details:** The encounter occurred in the Hapatola forest between Binagunda and Koronar villages under Chhotebethiya police station limits. It took place around 2 pm when a joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the State police’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) was conducting an anti-Naxal operation.
- **Weapon Recovery:** A significant cache of weapons was recovered from the encounter site, including seven AK series rifles and three Light Machine Guns. This recovery underscores the gravity of the Naxalite threat in the region.
- **Casualties and Injuries:** The gunfight resulted in the deaths of 18 Maoist cadres, while one BSF personnel sustained a bullet injury on his leg. Fortunately, the injured personnel are reported to be out of danger and receiving medical attention.
