The Election Commission has announced a crucial restriction on exit polls during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, prohibiting their conduct, publication, or publicity from April 19 to June 1. This decision also extends to Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim.
In Chhattisgarh, which will witness voting across three phases, key figures like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, and Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah have been designated as star campaigners for the BJP, alongside 40 others.
Starting from 7 am on April 19 until 6:30 pm on June 1, all forms of media are barred from sharing exit poll results or any election-related content. This includes print, electronic media, and any other dissemination platforms.
Moreover, there will be a 48-hour embargo on displaying election-related content on electronic media leading up to the conclusion of the polling process for both the Lok Sabha elections and the mentioned Assembly polls.
The Lok Sabha elections are set to commence on April 19 across seven phases, involving a vast electorate of nearly 97 crore voters. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4, marking a significant milestone in India’s democratic process.
