03.05.2024: In a dramatic turn of events, West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose has issued an order prohibiting the entry of police personnel and Minister of State for Finance, Chandrima Bhattacharya, into the Raj Bhavan premises. This decision comes following a written complaint filed by a temporary female staff member accusing the Governor of misconduct.
The statement from the Governor’s office cited “defamation and anti-constitutional media statements” against Governor C.V. Ananda Bose as the reason for banning Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya’s entry into the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata, Darjeeling, and Barrackpore.
Ms. Bhattacharya was quick to respond, expressing concern about the situation unfolding in the Raj Bhavan, especially on a day when the Prime Minister was scheduled to visit the state.
The Governor’s statement also addressed the ban on police entry into the Raj Bhavan premises, stating that it was in response to unauthorized and politically motivated investigations.
Additionally, the Governor sought advice from the Attorney General of India regarding legal actions against the Minister. In an earlier statement, the Governor vehemently denied the molestation allegation, labeling it as an attempt to gain electoral advantages.
This development has stirred significant attention, reflecting the political tensions and legal complexities surrounding the Raj Bhavan controversy.
