12.06.2024: Srinagar- A fresh wave of terror has struck Jammu and Kashmir, as an encounter between terrorists and security forces unfolds in the Doda district. Late last night, terrorists attacked an army base, injuring five soldiers and a special police officer (SPO), according to police reports.

Series of Attacks in Jammu

This incident marks the third terror attack in Jammu in just three days:

  • Kathua Attack: Hours before the Doda encounter, terrorists opened fire in Kathua, injuring a civilian.
  • Reasi Bus Attack: Terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims to the Shiv Khori cave temple in Reasi, killing nine passengers and injuring 33 others.

Details of the Doda Encounter

Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, provided details on the ongoing encounter:

  • Terrorists opened fire on a joint team of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in the Chattargala area.
  • The encounter is taking place in the higher reaches, with security forces actively engaging the terrorists.

Ongoing Operations in Kathua

  • In Kathua, two terrorists were involved in last evening’s attack. One terrorist has been killed, and security forces are now using drones to locate the second terrorist in the Hiranagar area.
  • Villagers reported suspicious activity when the terrorists asked for water, leading to the alarm being raised and subsequent firing.

Clarifications and Statements

  • Anand Jain clarified that contrary to some reports, only one civilian was injured in the Kathua attack. He dismissed rumors of multiple deaths and hostages.
  • He identified the Kathua attack as a “fresh infiltration,” indirectly pointing to Pakistan’s involvement in disrupting the region’s peace.

Recent Reasi Attack

  • Two days ago, a bus heading to the Shiv Khori cave temple came under attack in Reasi. Terrorists opened fire after the driver refused to stop, resulting in the bus falling into a gorge.
  • Nine people were killed, and 33 were injured in the attack, which was reportedly orchestrated by Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza.

Jammu has become a focal point of terror activities, with security forces on high alert. These recent attacks highlight the ongoing challenges in maintaining peace and security in the region. The bravery and quick response of the security personnel have been crucial in mitigating further casualties and neutralizing threats.
