18.04.2024 : In a strategic push against Naxalism, Home Minister Amit Shah’s directives have led to a significant dent in Maoist operations, with 75 militants eliminated in just four months.

Shah’s “Red Review” initiative, initiated in January, galvanized security forces into action. The recent success in Kanker, where 29 Maoists were neutralized, underscores the effectiveness of this approach.

Key to this success has been enhanced intelligence gathering, improved coordination between central and state forces, and the establishment of new camps in critical areas. The reduced operational risks have made anti-Naxal operations swifter and more effective.

Shah’s comprehensive strategy also includes development initiatives in affected districts and a focus on swift investigation and prosecution in Maoist-related cases. This multi-pronged approach aims to root out Naxalism from its remaining strongholds.

With casualty figures among security forces significantly reduced compared to previous years, and a record number of Maoists eliminated, 2024 could be a turning point in India’s battle against Naxalism, potentially surpassing the achievements of the past five years.
