31.07.2024: Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran on Wednesday, the Palestinian militant group and Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards confirmed in separate statements.

Details of the Attack: Haniyeh was killed in what Hamas described as a “treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran.” The attack took place early Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards. The Revolutionary Guards stated that an investigation is underway to determine the specifics of the raid.

Haniyeh’s Visit to Iran: The attack followed Haniyeh’s attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s new president on Tuesday. He was in the Iranian capital to participate in the inauguration, marking a significant diplomatic engagement.

Official Statements: “Early this morning, the residence of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran was struck, resulting in his and one of his bodyguards’ martyrdom. The cause is under investigation and will be announced soon,” the Revolutionary Guards said.
