Tragic Loss of Two Young IT Engineers in Pune

21.05.2024: In a heart-wrenching incident, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both IT engineers working in Pune, lost their lives when a speeding Porsche, driven by a drunk teen, crashed into their bike. This tragic event has left their families devastated and sparked outrage over the lenient treatment of the accused.

A Devastating Accident in Pune

The accident occurred around 2:15 am on a late Saturday night. Aneesh and Ashwini were returning from a get-together when a Porsche, driven by a 17-year-old under the influence of alcohol, struck their bike from behind. Both engineers died instantly at the scene.

Outrage Over Bail Decision

The driver, the son of a prominent Pune realtor, was granted bail within 15 hours under several conditions: writing a 300-word essay on accidents, working with traffic police for 15 days, and undergoing counseling and treatment for his drinking habit. The swift bail decision has fueled widespread anger and calls for justice.

Family’s Heartbreaking Reaction

In Birsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh, an ambulance carrying Aneesh’s body arrived, plunging his family into inconsolable grief. His grandfather, Atmaram Awadhiya, expressed his disbelief and anger over the bail decision, demanding strict punishment for the teen driver. “This is completely wrong. We want strict punishment. The bail granted to the accused should be cancelled,” he said.

A Call for Justice

At Aneesh’s home, the scene was one of unbearable sorrow, with relatives embracing and crying over their loss. Aneesh’s uncle, Akhilesh Awadhiya, strongly condemned the incident, stating, “The accused, a minor, was drunk and was driving at 240 km per hour. He did not have a driving licence. This is murder, not accident.”

Ashwini’s Family Speaks Out

In Jabalpur, the body of Ashwini Koshta arrived at her family home, where her relatives shared their grief and anger. Her uncle, Jugal Kishor Koshta, vowed to fight for justice, criticizing the bail decision and calling for an investigation into the teen and his parents. “We are in shock. It is condemnable that he got bail in 15 hours. He and his parents should be investigated. We will discuss the matter once Ashwini’s last rites are over,” he said.

Unfulfilled Dreams

Ashwini’s family is devastated by the loss of a young woman with so much potential. “She had so many dreams, she wanted to excel in her career and make her parents proud. We cannot express our grief,” her uncle added. Another uncle, Sachin Bokde, emphasized their demand for the cancellation of the teen’s bail, saying, “Because of him, an innocent girl, who had seen nothing of life, has died.”

Demand for Legal Action

Pune police have urged the court to try the accused as an adult, but their plea was initially rejected. They now plan to move the sessions court to seek a stricter trial for the teen. Meanwhile, the teen’s father has been arrested, adding another layer to the ongoing legal battle.

The tragic deaths of Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta have left a profound impact on their families and communities. As they mourn their loss, they are also determined to seek justice and ensure that such an incident does not go unpunished. The call for strict legal action and the cancellation of the bail granted to the accused highlights the urgent need for accountability and justice in this heartbreaking case.
