Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Injured in Roadshow Stone Incident

14.04.2024: During his Memantha Siddham bus yatra at Singh Nagar in Vijayawada, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy encountered an unfortunate incident when a miscreant threw a stone at him, resulting in a minor injury above his left eyebrow. The incident also affected Vijayawada West MLA Vellampalli Srinivas. Despite this setback, Mr. Jagan resumed his election campaign after receiving first-aid treatment on his bus.

According to reports, the stone was hurled from behind a place of worship, prompting an investigation by the Ajitsingh Nagar police. CCTV footage is being analyzed to identify the culprit, and an alert has been issued in the area.

The injury sustained by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy caused concern among political leaders, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressing their wishes for his speedy recovery and condemning the act of violence. Additionally, Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KT Rama Rao denounced the attack, emphasizing the need for non-violence in democratic processes.

This incident underscores the need for political discourse to remain civil and respectful, especially as elections approach. The Lok Sabha elections for 25 constituencies in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled for May 13.
